Definition
Noor Ouarzazate is the world's largest concentrated solar power (CSP) complex, located in the Souss-Massa region of southern Morocco. Operational since 2016, the complex has 580MW capacity across 4 phases: (1) Noor I — 160MW parabolic troughs, (2) Noor II — 200MW parabolic troughs, (3) Noor III — 150MW solar tower, (4) Noor IV — 70MW photovoltaic. The complex uses molten salt thermal storage to generate electricity up to 7 hours after sunset. Noor Ouarzazate is a key part of Morocco's 52% renewable energy target by 2030.
