Net Zero
Net zero means balancing emissions produced with emissions removed, achieving carbon neutrality.
Definition
Net zero is a state where the amount of greenhouse gases emitted equals the amount removed from the atmosphere, achieving carbon neutrality. The Paris Agreement targets net zero by 2050 to limit warming to 1.5°C. For datacenters, net zero requires: (1) 100% renewable energy, (2) High efficiency (low PUE), (3) Carbon-free construction materials, (4) Offset for residual emissions. Harch Corp targets net zero by 2030 — 20 years ahead of the Paris Agreement — through 100% renewable energy, liquid cooling, and carbon-aware workload scheduling.
