A Tier III datacenter is a certification level from the Uptime Institute that guarantees 99.982% availability (less than 1.6 hours of downtime per year). Tier III requirements include: (1) N+1 power redundancy, (2) N+1 cooling redundancy, (3) Concurrently maintainable — maintenance can be performed without shutting down IT loads, (4) Multiple independent distribution paths.
