Power Density
Power density is the amount of electrical power delivered per rack in a datacenter, measured in kW/rack.
Definition
Power density is a critical datacenter metric measuring the electrical power delivered to a single rack of equipment, expressed in kilowatts per rack (kW/rack). Traditional datacenters support 5-10 kW/rack, but AI workloads require much higher density: H100 GPU servers need 15-20 kW/rack, and next-generation B200 servers may need 40-60 kW/rack.
